The new Samurai Reaction rod has hit the shelves, and its upgrades have not gone unnoticed in the angling community. Designed for dedicated fishermen, this rod promises to enhance performance, making it an attractive option for those serious about their craft.
“I personally have used the previous two models chasing mainly snapper,” said one dedicated angler, who fishes primarily out of Coffs Harbour. His experience with earlier versions has set the bar high for the latest iteration, particularly regarding sensitivity and weight.

Perhaps most crucial is the matte black butt constructed from carbon fibre, which has been tested to withstand up to 20kg of pressure. “It feels amazing and reduces the all-around weight of the rod substantially,” the angler mentioned. However, he pointed out a consideration for potential buyers: “The only issue with the 100% carbon fibre material is that it can be prone to scratching,” suggesting that Samurai provided a neoprene slipcover to counteract this.
He was particularly enthusiastic about wielding the 10-20lb setup, feeling the reduced weight immediately. “I cannot wait to get on the water for a flick,” he said, already rigging it up with a 4000-sized reel and 25lb 8x weave braid. This combination seemed to elevate his anticipation for its performance, hinting at excellent balance and reliability.
Before taking it out, the angler conducted a side-by-side comparison with the older Reaction model. He wanted to see if the lighter version would maintain its predecessor’s pulling power. “The new model was significantly lighter, and I wondered if it would maintain the pulling power of its predecessor,” he recalled.
